MERV Rated Nonwoven Fabric

Great Lakes Filters is a supplier of MERV rated nonwoven fabric in custom widths used by filter component manufacturers making pleated air filters (also known as furnace filters). The MERV 8 and 13 nonwoven fabric can be used in other applications as well. We are committed to offering clean air solutions for a number of industries. We offer MERV rated nonwoven fabric in MERV 8, 10, and 13. Custom products can also be developed.

MERV (minimum efficiency reporting value) is a rating system that determines the size of particles that a filter catches. The higher the MERV rating the smaller the contaminants it can trap. Fiber construction and process controls allow for a precise nonwoven fabric to be produced and tested to meet the rating. Fiber size and pore size (length, size, and denier thickness) must be controlled in these products.

MERV 8 nonwoven fabric is commonly selected for applications where the filter should be inexpensive and easily serviced. The fabric is pleated for extended surface area. Custom widths are available.

MERV 13 nonwoven fabric is a good option if superior air quality is the top priority. The nano-fiber construction helps achieve the MERV rating. The demand for MERV 13 fabric to make pleated furnace style filters has increased over time due to heightened demand for air purity and clean room applications.
